Abstract

Allama Iqbal’s concept of life is not an isolated and stand-alone conept. In fact, it is embedded with many other vital thoughts in Iqbal’s poetry. Therefore, in order to understand Iqbal’s concept of life we need to consider and analyze some important points. Some of them, also brought under discussion in this thesis, may be like following:

What is relation between Iqbal’s philosophy of ‘Khudi’ and life?

Has Iqbal used ‘Independence’ and Life in same meanings? Is there any concept of life in Iqbal’s thoughts without Independence? Is a real life possible under slavery or oppression?

What were the circumstrances around Iqbal during his bringing up and studies? Have they played a role for Iqbal in development of specific concepts about life as they are presented in Iqbal’s poetry?

How Iqbal considers struggle, resistance and dynamistic attitude in relation with life?

These and similar questions are motivation behind this writing which is just a humble attempt to acknowledge and give tribute to this great poet and philosopher.
