Abstract

Post-colonial study of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s educational ideologies is categorically the study of weight and value of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s movement and its impact on the Muslims of subcontinent. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was of the view that British rule will never end, hence Muslims of India must choose their path to survive unlike the Muslims of Spain. He was well aware of the strategies of British government about Indian Muslims, that is why he decided to save their identity from being demolished. In order for making them the best obedient citizens of British government he established unique, quick and sophisticated ways of educating Muslims. However, if that is the case a big unanswered question comes to the mind that what if British rule ever ends? What, then, could possibly be the shape and structure of his ideologies? How Muslims will cope with the new post-colonial situation of the territory especially in case of their own independent state. Study suggests that Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s educational ideologies were transformed into some unexpected legacies and went absurd. However, his scholastic approaches and modern thoughts were silently transferred to a few modern Muslim thinkers and then to some of the future Pakistani generations
