Abstract

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan is one of the most prominent and influential Muslim personalities of nineteenth century in the Indian subcontinent. His contribution is multi-dimensional ranging from practical efforts in the field of education and socio-political awareness to theoretical views in religion and literature. Focusing on his literary standpoints as well as his literary companions' writings we can significantly feel a paradigm shift with regards to literary aesthetics as compared to former literary tradition. Reason, reform and simplicity is the soul of these texts which introduces a new and different flavor in Urdu literature.
